We believe that safeguarding a language is synonymous with preserving an entire worldview. Our film strives to inspire action towards this cause.
Runa Simi sheds light on the problematic of fundamental access to audiovisual content in Quechua (and endangered indigenous languages globally), as well as other rights denied to indigenous people. Using a powerful, sometimes humorous, intergenerational story, and love letter to the Quechua language, we aim to contribute to the movement towards linguistic empowerment.
We're confident about our approach, the film has been able to travel through 41 different cities, connecting with a wide variety of audiences from around the globe. Prior to making the film, Fernando's short animated Disney clips had gone viral and are currently a powerful educational tool used in schools to preserve and teach this mostly oral language.
We want to connect with the youth, since we know promoting the use of this language in children is key to its future survival; in Quechua and in other colonized communities in the world. The goal is to raise awareness of the value found in diverse languages and cultures, and how these can influence the identity of a nation. We want to help transform the imge of Quechua from being the language of the oppressed into a language of power and pride.
Assemble an eco-friendly outdoor cinema tour around Quechua-speaking communities to screen Runa Simi fully dubbed to Quechua. Fernando will lead workshops about dubbing short animated scenes, showing children the power of their voices.
Screenings will come accompanied by sessions of conversation with the community. We believe that dialogue after the screening can be key to realize what goes beyond the story showed on screen.

Peruvian National High School Tour
The team will work alongside the Ministry of Education of Peru to visit public and private schools to screen the film to teenagers between 11-17 years. This will be accompanied by dialogues around language, identity, and representation.
We are certain that Dylan (15) has a closer reach with younger audiences to address what it means to be able to let your roots be part of your history. This is important to shape national identity.

Visit different universities with the protagonists of the film to screen and create roundtables and panel sessions for discussion.
We ave already connected with universities in Mexico, Canada, and the US that are interested in screening Runa Simi with panels by Fernando to talk about the importance of preserving indigenous languages. This is a strong ally for research branches and reach.
Dubbing and training of indigenous voices artists
Develop an online platform where Fernando can share his dubbing work. Additionally, create a list of indigenous dubbing artists so that film industry professionals can find resources to dub their films to Quechua and other indigenous languages.
Thanks to how the film has traveled around the world, Fernando has been able to connect with different indigenous communities to start dreaming of a bigger network of dubbing artists.
Public Policy
Fernando and the team are very aware that this movement that Runa Simi has started, both nationally and internationally, is much bigger than the film itself. It explores topics like linguistic discrimination and indigenous rights through its message.
We aim to take advantage of the film's theatrical release to start public discussion on indigenous peoples' rights. We want to propose a revision to the Intercultural Bilingual Education Law, for it to consider including higher education on its bases.

We've found that Runa Simi aligns with many organizations drives, from major institutions, colleges, and NGOs, to grassroots organizations.
The goal is to develop resources bases on our findings to be used as educational materials and guided panel discussions so the film can help enhance new allies programs around the world.
